Vehicle Manifest and Package Count Off

Paper Manifest

A driver can print off a list of all items on their vehicle before leaving the depot. This is on A4 paper and it allows them to see all the addresses they need to visit, what has to be delivered to each address and there is even a separate list showing the dimensions of each package (handy if you can't find something). The A4 paper is much larger than a mobile computer screen and whilst being low tech - it is easy for the driver!

Mobile Computer Manifest

Before leaving the depot (or afterwards over GPRS / 3G) the driver can download a vehicle manifest, which again lists all the items on their vehicle, addresses to visit etc. The additional benefit of this manifest is seen when they scan the first package for a particular address. The mobile computer looks for other packages on the vehicle that should also be delivered to this address and displays the number of remaining packages in a yellow box:

Note the yellow box telling them that there is 1 more package on the van for this address.

The number in the yellow box, counts down to 0 as the driver scans each package in turn.

This system helps prevent a driver from leaving a site with an item for that site still on the van or lorry.
