MC50
The Motorola MC 50 is a what is termed a "durable" PDA. This is a new category of mobile computers that sits between the standard PDA (breaks easily if you drop it) and a fully rugged mobile computer (typically designed for 20 plus drops to concrete from 1.5 meters). By reducing the ruggedness, Motorola have created a low cost, sleek device that is suitable for applications in an office environment. Traditional PDA's often fall short in this area as they lack the integrated barcode readers and are not designed for extended use on battery power alone - typically giving less than 2 hours use. The MC50 is designed to deal with these issues, whilst only having a small price premium over traditional consumer grade PDA's.
If you are operating outside of an office environment (or expect to drop the unit frequently) we strongly suggest looking at the MC70 or MC3000 mobile computers which are designed for rougher environments / treatment, but of course come with a higher price tag. The following table shows you the significant differences between the environmental conditions that the MC50 and fully rugged units are designed to cater for.

MC70

Quite simply if you are a courier or logistics company needing a mobile computer for use on the road, we suggest looking at the MC70.
MC3000
The MC3000 mobile computer offers fantastic value for organisations that require a rugged mobile computer that has a good sized keyboard, inbuilt barcode reader and wireless communication options.
