Channel and Mobile Solutions Ltd was established in 2003 by Mike Bowen a veteran of the mobile computer, barcode and wireless communication industry. Mike had previously worked in a number of roles at Symbol Technology and Telxon for 16 years. During this time he managed large corporate sales into companies such as Tesco, Sainsbury, Swiss Post, Swedish Post, Federal Express, British Steel, Motorola and Rover. This experience has given the organisation a wealth of experience from both a systems design and hardware capability front.

The company specialises in producing state of the art but "affordable" solutions for Parcel Tracking, Proof of Delivery, Internal Mail and Document Tracking markets. Channel and Mobile Solutions is commonly known for its Stock Control software which is well known throughout the industry. Its Stock Master and Typhoon Stock Control software is used by numerous councils as well as private companies.

For the last 18 months the focus of the company has moved its focus to tracking systems for the Logistics and Internal Mail market sectors. The advent of a host of technologies becoming affordable meant that it was possible to produce revolutionary systems that enables even small companies to have tracking systems that were previously the sole domain of large multi-national organisations.

Mike Bowen explains - "Ever since the large multinational couriers introduced Tracking and Proof of Delivery systems, the rest of the market has been under pressure to do the same. The problem has been that the software required was custom built, which while affordable over thousands of users it could not be cost justified for the 10-2000 user operations. We realised about 2 years ago that with modern software technologies it was possible to produce a package that would completely change this crazy situation. After a great deal of work we now have our DeliveryPoD package that enables organisations with as few as 10 users to have a state of the art system. In fact DeliveryPoD has many features that even the largest couriers will be envious of. Now logistics organisations can offer online web based tracking and PoD, complete with digital maps (showing vehicle / parcel position) as well as automatic Email notifications at a very aggressive price point. In fact we even offer DeliveryPoD on a pay monthly basis."

All software is produced in the UK by the companies own software staff. Mike Bowen comments - "Our customers like to know that all of our software is produced in-house, here in the UK. They know that we can prioritise the software resource - as it is ours. This keeps us economical when it comes to modifications or bespoke software development."

Mobile Computers and Barcode Equipment

In order to ensure that our software works efficiently with the various mobile computing platforms we test our software on a variety of platforms. This means that we work closely with leading vendors such as Datalogic, Hand Held Products, Intermec, Motorola and Opticon. Our mobile computer software is designed for Microsoft CE.Net, Pocket PC and Windows Mobile - so that it can be moved to the customers preferred hardware platform.

Barcode Printers

Where we print barcodes and labels we try to produce software that works on all printers (prints via Windows print drivers) and then test on our range of demonstration printers (Zebra Technologies).
